“You’re glowing” she tells me
She sees that I’m lit from within.
My soul has always been on fire,
But the embers have been dim.
Drenched by the ferocious storm that threatened the flame
The roar of thunder so loud, I barely heard my own name.
The storm built to a crescendo, a mighty strike of lightning,
Shocking and formidable,
Unexpected and frightening.
The bolt sparked the embers to ignite and grow,
Until the fire burned bright, and the flames were on show.
After the darkest of storms, the clouds finally disappear,
The heat from inside assures there’s nothing left to fear.
So when she tells me she can see, that from within I glow,
I assure her the fire inside burns brighter, than even I could ever know.
