It’s been a little while since I’ve shared the things I’ve been loving with you, so I thought today’s post should be just that.
The first thing I’ve been loving is my Maria Nila Soft shampoo and conditioner. I found this brand at my local Sally’s beauty supply store and I have absolutely fallen in love. I had been struggling with really itchy scalp and frizzy hair that just never seemed to look nice. The lady who worked in Sally’s asked me what I was using, I told her I was using Tresseme, to which she told me that is probably one of the worst things I could have been using as it’s full of silicones and other nasty chemicals. She recommended the Maria Nila line as it is silicone and paraben free, 100% vegan, and it has Argan oil in it to help soften the hair. I kid you not, the relief I felt on my scalp after using these products was nothing short of a miracle. For so long my hair had been so difficult, and after one wash the itchiness was gone! Over the course of the next few washes, my hair just got better and better, and now I am absolutely irrevocably in love with this brand. I urge you to give it a try and let me know what you think!
Along with the shampoo and conditioner I have also been using the ‘Salty Mist’ from Maria Nila. After washing and conditioning my hair, I have been spritzing it with this spray and leaving my hair to dry naturally, and I have been loving the results. With other sea salt sprays I’ve used in the past, my hair has ended up feeling dirty and crispy, whereas with this product my hair still feels clean and soft. It’s absolutely amazing and I would recommend it to anyone.
I’m sure if you are into your beauty gurus on YouTube, that you’ve heard of The Anna Edit and Lily Pebbles, well, have you listened to the podcast they have created together? It’s called ‘At Home With…’ and features a different influential person each week. Anna and Lily go to their house and basically interview the person whilst simultaneously snooping through their homes. It’s such a positive and fun podcast that I look forward to each week.
I’m an avid reader, and always like to have a book on the go. There’s not much I love more than finding a book that grips you from the very beginning and completely immerses you in the world the author has created. There have actually been a couple of books like this that I have read recently and I wanted to share both with you today.
The first book is called ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ by Khaled Hosseini. This book is a complete emotional rollercoaster that follows 2 women in Afghanistan and their lives. I don’t want to say too much as I think it’s best to go into a book knowing as little as possible. But take it from me, if you want a book that is unlike any other, give this one a go.
The other book I read recently that I wanted to share is called ‘The Girls’ by Emma Cline. This has had a lot of hype recently so I’m sure you’ve probably heard of it. It’s about a group of teen runaways in the Californian summer of 1969 and a girl called Evie’s desperation to be noticed. Even if you don’t appreciate the storyline (which I totally loved), Cline’s writing is utterly spellbinding. Her use of language is so perfect that it’s worth reading just to appreciate her sentence construction!
I recently visited my local BareMinerals counter in Debenhams asking for (what I thought was) the impossible. I wanted a foundation that both didn’t look or feel like a foundation. I absolutely hate the feel of normal foundation on my skin. I feel like it can’t breathe and it feels like my skin is dirty.
The lady put their Complexion Rescue tinted moisturiser on me, (in the shade 5.5 Bamboo if you’re wondering) and sent me home with a sample.
This tinted moisturiser is the absolute bee’s knees. It blurs imperfections, give your skin a glow whilst still letting your own skin show through. It feels lovely and cooling when you apply it, and then once it dries, your face honestly feels like it has nothing on. Below is a with/without comparison so you can see what it does to my face. I’ve had so many people comment that my skin looks great and that it has a glow. I’ve since used up the sample and bought the full size. I love it and highly recommend you give it a go.
And that’s everything I’ve been loving lately. I hope you’ve found something new to try, and let me know if you have used/read/listened to any of the things mentioned above, I’d love to hear your opinion. And, of course if you have any recommendations for new things for me to try, send them my way!
Until next time,
