Recommended Reading: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

If you ever get into a conversation with me about books. You can guarantee that the one book I will always recommend to you, is ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho. I have read it at least 3 times and have copies of it in English, Spanish, and on audio book.

I honestly believe that this is one book that every single person on this planet MUST read! I think I must have highlighted about half this book  because so many of the lines within it speak to me so much.

The book follows a young Andalusian shepherd, (his name is Santiago.) He keeps on having a recurring dream about treasure that is located in Egypt. To find out what this means, he goes to visit a psychic who tells him that its a prophesy and that he must go there to find the treasure.

From there the book takes you on his journey to find this treasure.

This book is full of incredible quotes that speak so much sense it’s ridiculous. I have never read a book that has inspired me more than this one.

The theme of The Alchemist is ‘”when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” (Which is totally one of my favourite quotes from the book!) Every person has their own personal legend, and it is the persons obligation to find out what that legend is. The book suggests that everybody, when they are young, knows what their personal legend is, and what they were put on this earth to do.

Here are some of my absolute favourite quotes from the book:

Basically, the moral of this post it that you absolutely must read this book and that it will change your life.

I picked up my copy from Abe Books for about 2 quid. I have since considered buying a brand new fancy copy of the book, but I can’t, for some reason, bring myself to do it! Ilove my little tatty copy haha. 🙂

Have you read The Alchemist? If so, comment below your thoughts!
